Seeing the inexpensive
price of the painting, a Khmer painter struggled and paved his way out of the
paintings without receiving any salary until his paintings were internationally
recognized and sold for nearly $ 10,000.
Nou Sary, a farmer from
Kean Svay, Kandal province. He’s facing a lot of difficulties to get his
paintings recognized by foreigners until his painting can sell up to $ 10,000.
The artist says that he
started his career into art of painting, especially the contemporary paintings
because of love and want to show to foreigners, that Khmer have the ability to
paint a best painting, worth up to 20,000 US dollars.
Soundbite: Mr. Nou Sary
says “I started this career into art of painting, especially the contemporary
paintings because of love and want to show to foreigners about Cambodian
harvesting and I want to show the difficulties of Cambodian farmers in
harvesting season.”
He claimed that many
overseas Cambodians, as well as many foreigners; he valued his achievements so
that he was able to struggle to succeed now.
Currently, Nou Sary's
works have been displayed abroad, such as 100 paintings in European, 100 paintings
in US, 60 paintings in Australia and 100 paintings in Cambodia. Each drawing
costs between $ 800 to $ 8,000 dollars.
Recently, this famous
artist has just presented his work to Cambodian and foreign audiences.
Exhibition work is strongly supported by a large number of visitors, especially
paintings about the farmers' harvest.
Nou Sary graduated from
the Royal University of Fine Arts in 2000. Given his ambition to become a
well-known international artist, he continued his studies in France for another
six years on the painting.
In 2006, he received a
bronze medal from the French Government for paintings about human and nature.
The painting has made him famous and is currently worth the cost of $ 10,000.
